We chose the name Altared Minds for this blog for a few reasons. First, the products reviewed on these pages are intended to help the user alter their moods, feelings and perception of the world around them as well as themselves. The plants used in these products can have very strong, immediate effects. Users tend to display a wide range of emotion and find deeper understanding of their own inner truths and realities.
As such, the experience often has a very spiritual feel to it; leaving many people with the impression that they have done something remarkable. Ancient tribes often used many of these same plants as part of their sacred rituals. For this reason, we chose to use the "Altared" spelling instead of the proper word, "altered", to denote the spiritual aspect of mood alteration.
